The long drive to Telluride

Gotta love how BoBo and Mango had to be clutched tight during the entire trip.

Sleeping Zachary
We saw a wind farm on our long down I-70 thru western Kansas toward Colorado. We watched these giant windmills for 13 straight miles. If you haven't ever been close to one it is hard to imagine just how large they are. There must have been 500+ and was amazing with the sun shining on them.

We are pretty sure this fence is on Ralph Lauren's near 16 mile stretch of land he owns near Telluride. We might have even seen him passing us (at a very fast pace) in fancy orange speedster (can't remember what type of car).
Our GPS with XM radio was great to have (good perk of working for Garmin).
We drove out to Telluride, Colorado in July for a week with Skip's family. Skip's sister lives in Telluride and is a gorgeous location for a perfect vacation. We filled 2 vans with 6 adults and 4 kids age 4 and under!! Can I just say that portable DVD players are a god-send!! I don't know how we'd have done the 31+ hour round trip w/o them. I know that on the way home, during the over 15 hours in the car, the older 2 kids slept a total of 20 minutes each. That is what I live with! Zachary did awesome being confined to his car seat and not having as much entertainment. He did sleep fairly well for us. Calvin and Emerald did really well, too, despite the lack of sleep. They loved their surprise sacks, movies, new books, and all the extras. We planned a stop at a park each day and just let them run like wild children. The weather on each of our stops could not have been ordered to be more perfect for outdoor dining and playtime. We got pretty lucky! We stayed the night in Colorado Springs on both ends of the trip and enjoyed some pool time. I have a ton of pictures to show, and share with the family, so bear with me.
A huge special thank you to Laura, Shane, and Simon for putting up with all of us!! We love your home and wish you lived a little closer so we could visit with you more often.Posted by Picasa
